Time to Define the Semantic Web, Part 1

by The H.E.A.T. Exchange

I have been reading a lot about the semantic web (SW). Maybe I should say that I have been reading about what others think about SW.

For the sake of my blog and my sanity, I will define the semantic web once and for all.

The semantic web is a “web of concepts”.

SW is not an extension of the current web. SW is what the web should have been all along. SW is the epitome of the web. All efforts to build the web leads to SW.

SW cannot be finalized as a “web of data” or a “web of things” because data and things are already part of the current web.

Do a search and you will see a list of things. These things are composed of data. This is the current state of the web.
